Meeting 1094 - Comedy Classics

 President Trish opened the Meeting and welcomed Area Director Mark.

After program changes by Marlene, a Toast was proposed by Vaughan.

First Speech was an Ice Breaker by Natalie, titled ‘A Fork in the Road’. The Evaluator was  Chris H.

Speech 2 by Josh, entitled "A Land of Extremes" was evaluated by Tony.

Speech 3 was the second part of a project for Gail, detailing how her team make “cushies” (breast cushions for mastectomy patients) and was evaluated by John T.

Timers Dan and Peter B. recorded the times with updates throughout the Meeting.

Raffle: Dan was Raffle Master and offered a very enticing samples of fire water. Lucky winner was Tony.

Table Topics were themed to Comedy Classics, and were presented by Narelle. The Evaluator was Monica.

Participants Arun, Vaughan, Tony and Christiane provided mini speeches on the topics.

Area Director Mark gave a heartfelt congratulations - in a word "Awesome" - for Sandgate Club. It was good to receive such positive feedback and he commended the Club on its achievements.

As a practice for the upcoming Area Contests in November, Christiane presented her Humourous Speech. A group Evaluation was conducted by Trish, asking for positive points and areas for improvement.

This was followed by John T's International Speech, with group Evaluation led by Liz.

General Evaluator Gokul provided a very succinct wrap up of the Meeting, with time constraints not allowing for expansion.

Meeting 1093 - Evaluation and International Speech Contests

 President Trish opened the Meeting, welcoming guests and then handed control to the M.C. Toastmaster Hazel.

A Toast was presented by Peter B. to "the Contestants".

Evaluation Contest Toastmaster Trish then introduced the Test Speaker Deborah, who is a Member of Bunya Toastmasters Club. Her Speech was entitled "Lost in Translation".

Trish congratulated all Contestants and declared they were all winners just for competing.

The Raffle was a basket of goodies by Leanne, and winner at the end of the evening was Josh.

Meeting Cancelled

 

The Hub is closed

It was very disappointing to have our meeting cancelled at the last minute due to new lock down rulings. There was no time to make alternate arrangements.

Meeting 1091 - Table Topics and Humorous Speech Contest

 Always an exciting Meeting with 2 Contests. Once again Sergeant At Arms Josh gave a warm introduction with reminders about switching mobile phones to silent and location of facilities and Exits.  This was followed by the Mission Statement.

President Trish stated that "All Contestants are winners before they even start", by just stepping up to partake. Return guest Amber was welcomed.

Peter provided the Toast -  to "Discrimination" with many examples of how this affects our daily lives.

The Table Topics Contest Chairman Dan explained the procedure and requirements for the Contest.

There were 12 Contestants - I am sure a record number - and they were challenged with the topic "Should we trust self driving cars".

Contest began with Tony as Contest Chairman.

Christiane spoke about "Why Don't They just say what They Mean". John T's title was "Brissie, Brissie, Brissie - Oy, Oy Oy". Narelle spoke about "If you don't Laugh - you Cry".

The Judges were thanked by Trish for their excellent job. 

Congratulations to all Participants and the Winners will now continue on to the Area Contests to be held in November.

Meeting 1090 - Trees

 Sergeant at Arms Josh once again was methodical with reminders of dual sign ins, facilities at the venue and the Mission Statement. It is a warm and friendly introduction to start our Meetings.

Oh, and also "the joke", which he cleverly related to the theme. Josh also did an excellent job as Timekeeper and as always his Sergeant At Arms role.

Immediate Past President Leanne welcomed Members and guest Amber, then provided the Toast - to "The Mulberry Bush", or maybe that was "Mulberry Tree" and she was just beating about the Bush.

Control was handed to Toastmaster Liz who quizzed Members about which trees produced the most oxygen, and throughout the Meeting provided facts as well as a few jokes about Trees.

J.P. provided the Quote - a very deep and meaningful story about "The Outsiders". He teased us with not revealing the author until the end - who was none other than Donald Trump.

Marlene was once again innovative with the Word which she related to Tree - "Symmetry". This was most used by Narelle by the end of the Meeting.

Natalie was the Round Robin presenter and she asked the question - What is your Favourite Season and Why". There were a variety of answers encompassing all seasons, including the "footy season".

The Raffle was produced by Marlene, with Gokul being the lucky winner.

Following the break, a Business Meeting was conducted by Chairman Christiane.

The Table Topics Evaluations were conducted by Chris H (who did a very accurate and honest report on his own topic, and Ted.

General Evaluator Dan gave an overview of the Meeting, with many valid and valued points to watch for in the future. He had commendations for many participants and was supportive throughout his report.
