Meeting 1100 - Building Bridges

 An opening address by President Trish welcomed Area Director Mark, and return guest Shane. This was a fully Zoom conducted Meeting, owing to the usual venue still observing restricted access.

Liz We. was Toastmaster, and what she doesn't know about bridges, their history, location and variety, isn't worth knowing. Our edification was extensive.

Toast by John T. was to "The Importance of Building Bridges in our Lives".

Wordmaster Hazel provided the meaning and extensive examples of the word "Collaborate" and it's derivatives. Liz We. used it the most.




Paul conducted Table Topics, and posed the question - describe a memory associated with your favourite bridge.

Timer Leanne adeptly monitored the times with a set of traffic lights making it easy for Members to keep an eye on the timing.

Speeches:

Josh was introduced by Evaluator Gail, the title of his speech "Preventing Waste through a Circular Economy". It was from Level 1 Researching and Presenting. Congratulations Josh on completing Level 1 of Pathways.

Gokul's speech entitled "The Opportunity" was evaluated by Arun. Congratulations also to Arun for completing Level 1 of Pathways.

Trish presented a speech entitled "My Mentoring Experience" from Level 2 Visionary Communication. It was evaluated by Liz Wo.

Area Director Mark addressed the Members, and presented Tony with his 15 year service Award, if not in person, in spirit.

Table Topics segment was a joint effort by Carmy and Tony. Participants Marlene, Trish, Gail, Paul Leanne and Gokul gave interesting responses to "bridge" related questions. The topics were evaluated by Paul and Hazel.

Peter B. used his Show and Tell segment to tell of his love of Music and playing guitar. He had a particular Music Book to assist his learning journey. His advice - start at the beginning.

General Evaluation was presented by John T, dissecting our progress and reflecting on the Meetings progress.

Meeting 1099 - Love is in the Air

 The Club once again ran a Zoom Meeting, with the hope that the next will be a hybrid.

Trish opened the Meeting and welcomed guests David (from Peninsula Club), Shane and Heidi, giving a total of 18 participants on Zoom.

Hazel followed this with a toast to a great writer "Thich Nhat Hanh," a Vietnamese monk. He lived to age 95, only passing away last month. He spent a lifetime writing about love including books "The Art of Living" and "True Love". His message was simple - to be present for the people you love.

Gail was Wordmaster and provided a suitable word in "Allure, or Alluring". Hazel's French pronunciation of this word was delightful.

Round Robin was conducted by Gokul - with the topic "Something you love". There were various loves among the members and guests, including travel, quilting, chocolate, partner and family.

John T. gave a speech from Level 5 Pathways - which was a marathon effort at 18-22 minutes. His topic "You are only Young Twice" kept the audience engaged with humour and personal stories. A memorable quote was "I decline to decline". The speech was evaluated by Tony.

Timekeeper Liz Wo. kept the coloured backgrounds operating for correct timing.

A Business Session was very ably conducted by Paul. Congratulations for the Reports format which were distributed by email prior to the Meeting.

Liz We. was General Evaluator. She covered all areas of the Meeting. She also congratulated Members and expressed appreciation for the fellowship prior to beginning the Meeting, which she hopes can be in person next Meeting.

Meeting 1098 - Burns Night

 This was a Zoom Meeting owing to closure of our usual venue at the Brighton Wellness Hub.

Josh opened the Meeting and introduced President Trish. We were reminded of the Division Conference to take place on 19 March at Nundah. Member Liz We. was welcomed back to Australia and to our Club, if not in person just yet.

Toastmaster John T. then explained the Burns Night theme. Robbie Burns was known as the "Bard of Scotland".  He was a storyteller, poet, and wrote the famous "Auld Lang Syne" lyrics. His birthday was 25 January so the celebration is held in his honour each year.

The Wordmaster Chris gave us "Supper"  - referring to the meal partaken on on Burns Night. It was widely used all evening, as well as John explaining what comprised such a supper.

Round Robin topic by Hazel was "Who is your favourite storyteller or poet? Many varied answers included Billy Connolly, Pamela Ayres and Jeanne Robertson.

General Evaluation was presented by Trish, giving helpful tips for when holding Meetings via Zoom, which included how to emphasise hand gestures and choice of background. She congratulated all on an easy conversion to online Meetings.

Meeting 1097 Christmas Break Up

 What a fun night our Christmas Break Up meeting was! There was so much laughter!

The Round Robin conducted by Dan "What was your worst Christmas gift?" was one of the funniest ever.

We had a short speech by John which was a report on our successful District 69 50th Anniversary Dinner.

We were completely "whelmed" by it all. There, I used Gail's word for the evening!
