Meeting 1099 - Love is in the Air

The Club once again ran a Zoom Meeting, with the hope that the next will be a hybrid.

Trish opened the Meeting and welcomed guests David (from Peninsula Club), Shane and Heidi, giving a total of 18 participants on Zoom.

Toastmaster Leanne asked Marlene to give program changes.

Hazel followed this with a toast to a great writer "Thich Nhat Hanh," a Vietnamese monk. He lived to age 95, only passing away last month. He spent a lifetime writing about love including books "The Art of Living" and "True Love". His message was simple - to be present for the people you love.

Gail was Wordmaster and provided a suitable word in "Allure, or Alluring". Hazel's French pronunciation of this word was delightful.

Round Robin was conducted by Gokul - with the topic "Something you love". There were various loves among the members and guests, including travel, quilting, chocolate, partner and family.

John T. gave a speech from Level 5 Pathways - which was a marathon effort at 18-22 minutes. His topic "You are only Young Twice" kept the audience engaged with humour and personal stories. A memorable quote was "I decline to decline". The speech was evaluated by Tony.

  1. Congratulations John for completing level 5! What an achievement - you should be so proud of you.
Funny that John won best speech :)
I love the various backgrounds of things you love, but some are not so obvious.
I'm looking forward to the hybrid meeting!
