Meeting 1043 Sandgate is 45

Happy birthday to us!

We celebrated our club's 45th birthday last meeting with a special supper and birthday cake

Sergeant at Arms Darryl called the meeting to order and handed control to president Gail, who welcomed our guests Area Governor Daniel, first time visitor Dan, and Gokul, Maria and Adrian

Gail presented Blake and Chris with their Competent Communicator  badge, and congratulated them on completing all 10 projects in the CC Manual.

Toastmaster of the evening was Monica, who was able to relate some of the achievementsof several long term members.

Jakob proposed a toast to our club's birthday.

Word Master John T chose the word for the evening "Celebrate," with its other forms, "celebration" and "celebratory."

Round Robin Master Andrea  invited us to tell of a time in our lives when we have celebrated.

There were three prepared speeches. Jonathon posed the question "How are we Going?" He used the projector to illustrate his speech about the N.P.S. - Net Promoter Score. It was good to see that most of our members are promoters of Toastmasters and there were no detractors.

Leanne evaluated Jonathon's speech.

Trish presented a very informative speech on how to use Power Point effectively, and gave some entertaining examples of  correct and incorrect use. This was the final project to be completed in Trish's Competent Communicator manual. Another CC for Trish!

Trish's speech was evaluated by Paul.

In Gail's speech "When Nuts aren't Nuts" we learned all about peanuts.

Annette, who has been in the Sandgate Toastmasters for 42 years presented a short and entertaining history of the club.

Eileen was raffle master. Because it is Exhibition week, she made up a sample bag. And because the club is 45 years old, she included items that she thought a 45 year old would like. (All ages queued to buy tickets.)  The lucky winner was Gokul, (who won't be 45 for a  quite a while.)

Supper time! We had an extended break so we could enjoy the sumptuous dips, fruit and cake. (Pictured here with our Area Director Daniel and the Executive Officers of the club.)
