Meeting 1107 "Nocturnal Noises"

It was our first meeting in our new venue, the RSL Sub Branch hall.

Dan, standing in for our Sergeant at Arms, called the meeting to order and passed control to our President Trish.

Toastmaster Christiane introduced the theme of the evening, "Nocturnal Noises."

Zoom attendees

Monica, who was attending on zoom, gave us the word for the evening - "Hair Raising."

This fitted well with the Round Robin introduced by David who was also on Zoom. He asked what we would do if it was the last day we would ever see the sun. There were many interesting answers, some were going to enjoy as much sun as they could before it disappeared, while others were going to join the rush for batteries and candles.

Arun presented the first prepared speech, a Level 3 project in his Dynamic Leadership path, "Negotiation Strategies." It was evaluated by Trish.

The second speech was presented by Gokul, with the intriguing title, "Who would you love more - your Mum or your partner?"  It was actually about his love for both the country he was born in and the country he chose to emigrate to. Gail was his evaluator.

The raffle was provided by Dan, who was attending on Zoom, but he had given it to Gokul to present at the meeting. It was a book about Johnny Walker and a generous selection of drinks. It proved to be a very popular raffle. It was won by Leanne.

  1. Agree fully that it's great to have Trevor and Jonathon back!
The speeches stood out to me with:
"You know the person you are going to marry and still go ahead?" - as response to arranged marriages
"mother or spouse?" - can you love two things for different reasons the same?
And so glad that Tony did his first (ever) business session with us :)
