Meeting 1014 Speechfest "Brisbane"

The 5th Tuesday of the month is a good time to hold a Speechfest.

Sergeant at Arms Chris opened the meeting. VPE Christiane stood in for President Annette and welcomed everyone to the meeting. It was good to see Darryl back.

Word Master Carmy presented the word "Sunshine," which fitted well with the theme of "Brisbane" and was used many times during the evening.

Round Robin Master Marlene invited everyone to tell what they liked or didn't like about a suburb of Brisbane that was not their home suburb. Some that were mentioned were Gordon Park, Teneriffe, New Farm, Highgate Hill, Albany Creek, Bundamba, etc. Steve managed to use the word Sunshine several times by talking about Sunshine Train Station.

There were four prepared speeches. Eileen's speech was a fascinating explanation of the difference between Introverts and Extroverts - and those in between eg. extroverted introverts, and ambiverts.  It was evaluated by Gail.

There was much laughter when Paul told some funny stories about the different stages his children have gone through, and how they are growing up so fast.

Chris told how as a fire fighter,  he teaches school children what to do in case of fire. He demonstrated how they should cover their face with their hands and roll on the floor or ground if their clothes catch on fire, and how to get down low below the smoke level where there is better visibility to escape a house fire.

Carmy evaluated Paul's speech.
