Meeting 931 "The Sixties"

The Sixties - from Rock to Woodstock" was the theme of our meeting. Our Toastmaster of the evening Peter V was well prepared with recordings of songs from the Sixties.

Rose proposed the Toast to "Toastmasters - strong in the Sixties, even better today."

Liz presented the word "Inexorable" meaning not able to be stopped or changed. Liz wore a flared skirt from the sixties, which she could still fit into!

Round Robin Master D'sleyasked what songs did we like from the sixties. Some were too young to remember the sixties, but everyone had a favourite song, movie, TV show, or event from the sixties.

John S

John S had cleverly anticipated the topic and prepared a story from song titles from the sixties, which he has shared a copy.

“I didn’t know what to do with myself” tonight so this meeting is “Good timin” and “I was only 24 hours from Sandgate (Tulsa)” but “Anyone who has a heart” would want to know “What’s new Pussy Cat” and while “These shoes were made for walking” some would “Walk on by” but “You’ll never get to heaven” if you “Make it easy on yourself” and “There is always something there to remind you”.

So “It’s now or never” and “Everybody’s somebody’s fool” but here is “The twist”; “Don’t let me be
misunderstood” because I have got “Good vibrations” about this meeting. I am sure everyone will be “Happy together” at Toastmasters so no one should be “Lonesome Tonight”.

No doubt it will be a “Hard day’s night” and probably “Only the lonely” won’t be there but ‘Please don’t ask about Barbara”.

Now everyone except “My Girl” calls me “Big Bad John” even that “Brown eyed Girl” all because “I Started a Joke”. I then said “Something stupid” to “Abraham Martin and John” and they went a “Whiter shade of Pale” and I heard the “Sounds of Silence”. I hope Doris will “Stand by me”. But that is probably not the “Worst that can happen”.

“I’m Sorry” for this Toastmasters but “Everybody loves a Clown”.
