Meeting 1050 "Happy Hour"



Sergeant-at-Arms Darryl set the tone of the evening when he opened the meeting with one of his funny jokes.
President Gail welcomed guests Eric, Bianca, Kym, Gavin and Jason.

Blake introduced the word for the evening, "Cheers."
Round Robin Master Peter invited everyone to tell of a "Happy Hour" they had spent at a hotel.

There were three prepared speeches. Marlene's speech "When You are Three" was the "Effective Body Language" project in the Pathways programme.
It was evaluated by Monica.

John completed level 2 in Pathways with his speech on Mentoring, "Look, Listen and Learn."

Gokul's speech was titled "You Can Do It"  and was evaluated by Liz.

New member Dan had Table Topics for Darryl, Monica, Blake, Liz, Eric and Jonathon, asking  "What comes to mind...." and gave each one an event to speak about.

They were evaluated by Stephen and Paul.

Jonathon had brought some interesting alcoholic drinks (including Irish, Russian Greek & Maynard Duck) for the raffle it was won by Jason.

Time Keeper Eileen announced that the meeting was running behind time, so the supper break was shortened.  Casey had provided a delicious supper.

Leesa chaired a short Business Session.  There was no general business, apart from the Christmas Break Up Dinner to be held on the 10th December

Grammarian Gail said there had been  some good descriptive phrases during the evening.

Gail was proud to display our new "Select Distinguished" ribbon for our banner.

We are "Select Distinguished."

The evenings awards went to Gokul (Most Improved,) Blake (Best Table Topic,) John (Best Speech,) and Liz (Best Evaluation.)

Next meeting Tuesday 26th November. Paul will be taking bookings for the Christmas Break Up Dinner, so bring your money. $35 for visitors. $25 for members.

Meeting 1049 "Numbers Count"


This was an extra “5th Tuesday of the month” meeting and it turned out to be one of our most entertaining meetings.

We had 5 guests, Steve, Amanda, Veronica, and Tanya  came for a second visit and first  time visiter Lonnie.

Toastmaster of the evening was Gail, who had some interesting information about numbers.

The word for the evening, chosen by Marlene was "Plethora," meaning a large or excessive amount.

Stephen proposed  a toast and Chris conducted the Round Robin by asking everyone to tell about a trophy or award they had won.

There were five prepared speeches. John used wonderful body language and humour in his speech, “Being an Aquaholic.” (One photo is not enough to describe this speech.)

Monica spoke about the value of house plants to purify the air.

Trish presented the speech that she will be using for the contest at the Area Conference and received some valuable feedback.

The Timekeeper was Paul.

Trevor presented a fun raffle, which consisted of a cute stuffed mouse, glitter balls, a disco ball and a bottle of  "The Elephant in the Room Pinot." It was won by Tanya.

After the supper break, we heard speeches from Leanne and Christiane.
Leanne who holds a HR Truck licence gave us an entertaining insight into the world of truck dirvers in her speech "The Truckie Within" 

In her speech "Bring Your Parent to School Day," Christiane spoke about her job of  Sales and Application Consultant and what it entails.
