Meeting 949 "Show Time"
August is the month when the Brisbane Show or Ekka is held, so it was a good theme for our meeting.
August is also the month when there are a lot colds and flu going around, so some members were not able to attend the meeting because of sickness or other reasons. I was one of them, so I don't have any photos this time.
I have been told it was a good meeting. This is what the programme looked like. (I have deleted the surnames, because we only use Christian names on this blog.)
Next meeting will be our Table Topics and Humorous Speech Contest. There is still time to enter. Give it a go!

Meeting 947 "Rhyme and Reason"
Amanda |
Congratulations to Amanda on completing her 10th manual speech and achieving Competent Communicator status! Amanda's speech was titled "Motivation - Advice to my Younger Self and You" which she cleverly addressed to herself at a younger age.
Lisa |
Congratulations also to Lisa, on presenting her first speech, (the Ice Breaker) On the map, Lisa showed us Suva where she grew up and took us through some milestone moments in her life.
It must have been the coldest night of the year, but attendance was high for our first meeting of the Toastmaster Year. It was good to see Jean C back again.
We even had guests who braved the cold, Craig, Jeanine and Brian (first time guests) and Paul who has decided to join our club. Welcome Paul!

It was a night of "firsts." The meeting was called to order by our new Sergeant at Arms Nick and controlled handed to new president John T.

Success
"To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived—this is to have succeeded."
