Meeting 1030 - Summer

A warm (summer) welcome back to all Members for the first Meeting of 2019.
Guests Jen, Debbie and Josh joined us for the first time. Carmy got the Meeting started on time.

Carmy
President Christiane conducted a brief Business session to find a solution for two motions. It provided a good educational on Meeting procedure as well.

Toastmaster John effortlessly kept the Meeting on track and raised the vibe throughout the evening.

John and Chris
The Toast to "Humidity" by Chris was met with mixed feelings, some getting hot under the collar, however it was quite apt. Chris also provided the Word "Smuggle" and it was used surprisingly often along with derivations of the word. The usual champion Trish once again took out the "most use" title.

The Round Robin introduced by Christiane - name your favourite summer event - was embraced with enthusiasm by all participants, showing their likes and dislikes of summer time.

Speech 1 by Vaughan was introduced by Marlene. This was Vaughan's Ice Breaker entitled "Full Circle" and showed that he is an up and coming Toastmaster with his strengths.

Vaughan and Marlene
Speech 2 entitled "My View of the NDIS World" by Stephen was introduced by Evaluator Darryl.

Stephen and Darryl
Speech 3 by Blake "The World of Strata Finance" gave us a humourous and entertaining view of this topic, of which he spoke at length. The Evaluator was Trish.

Trish
Trish as Raffle Master predictably provided a purple bag containing the goodies, which were won by Liz, who also fulfilled the role of Timer.

The all time favourite of Table Topics was introduced by Gail. All topics contained a "Summer" theme and were answered by Trish, Marlene, Jonathon, Leanne, Casey and Darryl, but it has to be said that Leanne's was the "hottest".

Evaluators of Table Topics were Christiane and Carmy.

A treat was the Show and Tell segment presented by Leanne, as she is now officially the holder of a HR Driver's Licence.
Truck Driver Leanne
Casey gave tips for better speech with her Grammarian role, including trying to avoid the use of ums and ahs.
Casey
Jonathon gave a precise and insightful General Evaluation, highlighting areas where we shone and also some tips for running a better meeting.

Jonathon

Blake got on his Soapbox and told us how he feels about people who can't make a decent sandwich, particularly people whose job it is to make a sandwich. They "grind his gears!" Remember, tomato should not be the first thing placed on the bread, and the salt goes on the tomato!
