Olympic Fever


Trish - Woman of the Year
Trish received a standing ovation as she entered the room a moment after the meeting began. The club had just been informed that Trish been awarded Gold Winner in the 2016 Women World Awards Woman of the Year - Mentor or Coach of the Year AND Bronze Winner in the 2016 Women World Awards Female Entrepreneur of the Year. Congratulations Trish!

Toastmaster Darryl looked the part in his sporting outfit. He began by getting everyone to do warm up exercises.

There were three guests - Susan who is a member of Federation Toastmasters in Tenterfield and is also Area 1 Director. Katy, from Caboolture Toastmasters and Thomas who came for the first time last meeting and liked us enough to come again.

Leanne proposed a toast "To the Athletes."

Word Master Christiane chose the word "Elite." It was used often during the meeting.

Round Robin Master showed the medal she had won for Tae Kwon Do and invited everyone to tell of  a success or award they'd had.

Marlene presented an educational speech on Interpretive Reading and encouraged members to enter the Interpretive Reading Contest next Meeting.

Wendy and Trish both stepped in to fill the two vacant speaking slots on the programme.
 Wendy held us spellbound with her  tale  "Conjure Wives.".

 After the supper break, (provided by Carmy) Leanne treated us with a moving rendition of "Advance Australia Fair."

Woman of the Year

Congratulations to Trish, "Woman of the Year."

Meetng 966 "Anything Goes"

John handed control to Toastmaster Rose, who was wearing her "Anything Goes" outfit.

Christiane proposed a toast to "The gift of today." Liz chose the word "Classic" as the word of the evening. Liz also acted as Grammarian and took note of the descriptive words and phrases throughout the meeting.

Carmy presented her Icebreaker speech and told us about her multicultural background and her passion for teaching.

Trish gave a humorous off the cuff speech about a boating accident while on holiday.

District 69 Conference 2016

 We are very proud of Annette, who represented our club and Metro Division  in the Table Topics Contest. No, she didn't get a place, but she received a lot of favourable comments from other Toastmasters. Darryl, Leanne, Leesa and John T went to support her. They had a wonderful time.

The Table Topic was "It's a long way."
