Rose's speech last meeting was the culmination of many months of  goal setting, planning and  team leadership as she worked toward her High Performance Leadership Award. Darryl commented on the friendliness shown by all at the recent conference, and proposed a toast to "Friendship at Toastmasters."

Hey, did anyone else notice that some people had trouble staying upright during the meeting? And it had nothing to do with Leesa's wine. Or my photography.

Special treat next meeting - Marilyn from Bunya Club is going to come and show how to present great evaluations.  I promise it will be good! See you on the 24th November. (Last meeting before our break up.)

Area 19 Conference

Area Director Rose

Although Rose is a member of our club, which is in Area 8, she has taken on the  role of Area Governor for Area 19, which encompasses Narangba Valley, Pines, Bunya, SeeChange and Western Suburbs Clubs.

One of the most challenging tasks for an Area Director is to organise the Area Conference. Thanks to Rose and her team, the Area 19 Conference was a resounding success.

John T
Our club president, John T was one of the judges.

And the test speaker for the Evaluation Contest was ......

Me!

Marlene with contestants Lindsay, Steve, Leonard, Rod.
If you ever have the opportunity to be a test speaker, go for it! I learnt so much about evaluating as well as how to be a better speaker.

A most enjoyable day.  Congratulations Rose and to all who participated.

Meeting 954 "Modes of Transport"

Happy 90th Birthday, Toastmasters International!

Sandgate Toastmasters &  guests celebrate 90 years
Toastmasters International was founded by Ralph Smedley in 1924, so we just had to be part of the year long Anniversary celebrations. Members at the meeting and our guests Norm from Narangba Valley Toastmasters and Kirsty posed for a photo before enjoying the delicious cake. Thanks to our other guest, Norm's wife Margaret for taking the photo.

The theme of the meeting was "Modes of Transport" and Toastmaster Reza had prepared some interesting information and quizzes about transport. It was Reza's first time in that role.
